Sylvia Maunder

Board Member

Sylvia and Peter recently sold their business, as Land Surveyors and Resource Management Consultants, in Wellington. Both are still employed as a Consultants by the new owner of the business but Sylvia is now semi-retired in Carterton with two beautiful cats. Most of her spare time during summer months is occupied with officiating at major Track and Field meetings around the country and sometimes overseas.

While in Wellington Sylvia was heavily involved with Athletics administration as secretary of the Wellington Track and Field Committee for 15 years and then a further 6 years as Chairperson of Athletics Wellington. During that time she has also spent 20 years as a Wellington Councillor to Athletics New Zealand. Sylvia was diagnosed as a coeliac in 2006 and joined Coeliac New Zealand and the Support Group in Wellington. With the recent move to Carterton, Sylvia has set about resurrecting the Wairarapa Support Group and also taken over the role of Support Group Leader/Key Contact for the area.

Brett Thorburn

Board Member

Brett returned to New Zealand a few years ago after 15 years in Italy. His daughter was diagnosed with coeliac disease when she was 2 and as a result he has been involved with the Italian Coeliac Society for the past 8 years. He is director of a successful tech business and has experience in international business and finance.

In his spare time, Brett likes to explore the Hauraki Gulf or take to the hills on tramping expeditions – although most hikes are less ambitious than his successful ascent of Kilimanjaro in 2008.

Libby Sinden

Board member

Libby Sinden is a new member of the Executive Committee. With close family members, including her brother and niece being diagnosed coeliac, she has a passion for making a difference in the lives of those affected by the disease. She is a lawyer with a background in corporate law who currently works part time in general practice at a family firm in Eden Terrace. Living in Auckland with her husband and two young children, Libby has a passion for good nutrition, food and cooking. She enjoys adapting recipes to make them gluten free and testing them out on her discerning niece. Libby is also a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors.

Alan Brame

Board Member

Alan was a partner with KPMG for 19 years having led two of their divisions and being part of the Executive committee that managed the New Zealand practice.

Since leaving KPMG he has used his skills and contacts in the Not for Profit sector to make a significant contribution to Auckland Football, Dance Therapy and more recently with RNZSPCA. Alan is currently the Chairman and Finance Committee member of Make A Wish NZ.
Helping Coeliac NZ is important to Alan as his wife Elaynor is Coeliac and his daughter Jasmine is both gluten and dairy intolerant.

Robyn Moore

Board Member

Robyn has worked at Fonterra for 14 years and is currently the General Manger for Brand Experience. Prior to joining Fonterra, Robyn was involved in a not-for-profit for many years and was focused on humanitarian aid projects in Asia, primarily around the health & well-being of women and children.

Robyn has been a coeliac all her life and is committed to being the best she can be despite the diagnosis. Her niece and 2 members of her close family are also coeliac so the family have embraced the Coeliac lifestyle. She is passionate about people and well-being and actively works to help others new to the diagnosis or struggling with eating a healthy well balanced diet.

Corinne Cameron

Board Member

Corinne's desire to be part of the Coeliac NZ board stemmed from her family’s journey into the gluten free world in 2016 when her eldest daughter was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease just prior to her fifth birthday. She believes in the positive power of a support network behind each person diagnosed with Coeliac Disease and sees Coeliac NZ playing an important part of that. She now believes it is her turn to give back and have a direct influence in the support other CNZ members receive to enable them to live healthy lives.

Corinne brings with her strong financial and analytical skills through experience as the Financial Controller at a London law firm and Meteorologist at MetService NZ. Her governance experience includes a variety of community organisations where she has held Chair and Treasurer positions. She is passionate about making a difference and providing greater support and education opportunities for families both beginning and on their coeliac journeys.
